Shifting from one job to an other job is tiresome and troublesome, especially in a competitive market such as UAE. The recent rumours of big firms cutting down on the existing employees is disheartening job seekers looking for their next career move.

Instability in the job market will always exist whether you are looking for a job in the UAE or any other country. And, so does hiring and laying down of employees. Companies look for new methods to secure their position in the market, and reduce unwanted expenses. Any shift in the market situation forces employers to cut down on employees or hire new employees to meet demand. However, irrespective on the motion of the wave, you need to be strong and secure your career with options.

One of the most wrong decisions ever made by employees is sticking to the same company for a long period of time. Though it is true that your company is paying you well, has sponsored your family, is taking care of your accommodation and medical, but what will you do if you your company suddenly issues you a formal notice to look for other options as it has to let you go.

Being not active in the process of job hunt will take a negative effect on your career and your process of job search. You lose your confidence in taking up the interview again, have your doubts on whether the new job will pay you well as expected or not, and even, if it can allow you to grow in the same company for a long time, as with your last company.

If you want to have a stable less insecure career, always have your options OPEN. Irrespective of how good your company is treating you or paying you, you need to be active in the job hunt process. Do consider few tips based on our experience in the job market of UAE:

1. Keep applying for jobs in your industry - this will help you locate new opportunities and consider it seriously if required. Also, it will help you keep track of your market value.

2. Keep updating your skill set - do not wait for the moment when you start applying for jobs and you skills are 10 years old.

3. Taking new trainings and certification - this will be value addition to your profile as its been a long time since you changed your job.

4. Keep attending interviews - this will allow you to retain confidence and also, will improve your ability to beat the blues of interview whenever you get started again.

5. Keep your CV updated - an updated CV will give you less tension and will allow you to any job without any delay.
