It can be discouraging when all your intense efforts to finding a good job goes to vain. Job search is tiring and not knowing what the recruiter wants in your CV is even more frustrating. Here are few pointers on what recruiters look at when they review a CV.

1. Changes in Job While it can be good to change jobs and move to a better paying one, it may add a dent to your CV no matter how good it is prepared. You will be labelled a ‘Job Hopper’ – a person who shifts from one job to another frequently. It simply means you are unstable in fixing your career.

2. Gaps in Employment When an employer sees a gap in your career, he simply put up a red flag. Employers seek candidates that have a stable career and any gap in employment may mean the person is unemployable or has issues in personal life. While small gaps (in few months) are still fine, but having years of gap does raise a question mark.

3. Bad CV An unprofessional CV is a huge turnoff. If you send your CV to a potential recruiter and either the format or the content is presented unprofessionally, it lowers your chances of getting shortlisted considerably. Other pointers include using too many colors, unattractive format, poor alignment, grammar issues, and inability to explain the job role.
